Differentiation between Cloud Computing Deployment Model and Service Model:

Deployment Model: Refers to how cloud services are deployed or hosted. There are mainly three deployment models: public cloud, private cloud, and hybrid cloud.

Service Model: Describes the type of services offered over the cloud. There are three primary service models: Infrastructure as a Service (IaaS), Platform as a Service (PaaS), and Software as a Service (SaaS).

Examples of Cloud Computing Applications:

  • Education: Google Classroom, an online platform for education management, utilizes cloud computing for collaborative learning, document sharing, and assignments submission.
  • Arts: Adobe Creative Cloud provides cloud-based tools for artists and designers to access and collaborate on projects from anywhere, enabling seamless creativity and workflow.
  • Health: Electronic Health Records (EHR) systems like Epic Systems or Cerner Corporation store and manage patient data securely in the cloud, facilitating easy access and sharing among healthcare providers.
  • Agriculture: Climate Corporation’s Climate FieldView platform employs cloud computing to analyze agricultural data such as weather patterns, soil conditions, and crop performance to optimize farming practices and increase yields.

Briefly Explain the following:

  • PaaS (Platform as a Service): It provides a platform allowing customers to develop, run, and manage applications without dealing with the underlying infrastructure complexities. Examples include Google App Engine and Microsoft Azure.
  • SaaS (Software as a Service): It delivers software applications over the internet, on a subscription basis, eliminating the need for users to install, maintain, or upgrade software locally. Examples include Salesforce, Google Workspace, and Dropbox.
  • IaaS (Infrastructure as a Service): It offers virtualized computing resources over the internet, allowing users to rent servers, storage, and networking infrastructure on a pay-per-use basis. Examples include Amazon Web Services (AWS), Microsoft Azure, and Google Compute Engine.
