Several cilia produce lashing movements and enable paramecium to move in water. It feeds on bacteria, algae and other protists. It has a opening for feeding called Cytostome or oral groove, through which it takes its food by ciliary movements. The flower like stuff which you see in the top and bottom are Contractile vacuoles, they excrete excess salts to out side. It reproduces asexually  by Binary fission where the Paramecium literally splits its body vertically into two daughter paramecia. It is also known as Slipper animalcule because of its typical slipper shape
