REVENGE ON MY EX STORIES

Episode 21 – Revenge on My Ex

My whole body went cold.

Emmy’s voice didn’t sound like someone who wanted to talk.
It sounded like someone who just heard a bomb ticking.

His hand was shaking.
His eyes kept darting between me and the bedroom door.

“Emmy… what is it?” I whispered.

No answer.

He just kept staring at me like he was trying to figure out something.
Or calculate something.
Or decide something.

The silence became too heavy.

“Emmy, you’re scaring me,” I said softly.

He finally exhaled, but it wasn’t relief.
It was stress.

Serious stress.

“I didn’t want you to find out like this…” he muttered under his breath.

Find out what?

My heart started pounding.
My head was spinning with a thousand thoughts at once:

Did I do something wrong?
Is someone after him?
Did he cheat again?
Is he hiding something dangerous?
Did he talk to Nma?
Did he find out where I slept?
Is this about the girl from his phone?

Everything in me was screaming for answers.

But Emmy…
Emmy was just standing there, breathing heavily, holding his phone like it was a weapon.

Then he sat down slowly, rubbing his face with both hands.

“Emmy please… talk to me,” I begged.

He looked up.

And the look in his eyes?

Fear mixed with guilt.

My stomach twisted painfully.

“Lili,” he said quietly, “you trust me, right?”

My throat dried.

I nodded like a fool.
Of course I trusted him.
Even when he lied.
Even when he broke me.
Even when I knew better.

“Good,” he whispered.

Why did that “good” feel like a warning?

He stood up and paced the room, running his hand through his hair.

I watched him anxiously, trying to read his body language, but Emmy was unpredictable.

Just when I thought he would finally open up…

He stopped walking.

Turned sharply.

Looked at me with those dark, confused eyes.

And said:

“Promise me you won’t overreact.”

My heart almost fell out of my chest.

“Emmy what is going on?!” I cried.

He walked closer.
Too close.
Close enough that I could hear his heartbeat slamming against his ribs.

He took my hand gently.

My mind softened instantly because Emmy rarely held my hand.

“I didn’t plan for this,” he whispered.
“I swear on my life, I didn’t plan for this.”

My legs were shaking.

“Plan for what?” I whispered.

He swallowed hard.

“I just need you to trust me now more than ever.”

Trust?

This was the same Emmy that ignored my messages.
The same Emmy that lied.
The same Emmy that broke my heart in tiny pieces.

And yet…
Here I was…
Still nodding like a child.

“Emmy, tell me,” I begged again.

He opened his mouth…

About to say the thing my heart wasn’t ready for…

But before a single word dropped

BOOM BOOM BOOM!!!

A loud, violent knock slammed the front door.

My heart jumped into my throat.

The knock came again.

Harder.

Faster.

My blood froze.

“Emmy… who is that?”

His face drained of color completely.

He rushed to the door of the room, locked it quietly, then pressed his finger to his lips.

“Don’t make a sound,” he whispered urgently.

My breath caught in my chest.

The knocking at the front door continued…

This time with a voice.

A woman’s voice.

Cold.

Familiar.

“Emmy… open this door NOW!”

My heart shattered.

I knew that voice.

I knew it too well.

It was the girl from the hotel.

The girl I saw in his phone.

The so-called “cousin.”

The one he said meant nothing.

The one he swore he didn’t care about.

She was here.

At his door.

Calling his name like she owned him.

Emmy closed his eyes…
And whispered the words that nearly stopped my heart:

“Lili… please… don’t panic.”

But my vision was already blurring.
My body was already shaking.
My mind was screaming.

Because from outside, the girl shouted again

“Emmy, I KNOW SHE’S INSIDE!
Open this door before I break it!!!”

Episode 22 – Revenge on My Ex

The banging on the door didn’t stop.

If anything… it got worse.

“Emmy open this door!! I swear I’m not joking today!”

My whole body was vibrating.

But Emmy?

He didn’t move. Didn’t blink. Didn’t speak.

He just stood there… chest rising and falling too fast… palms sweating… face pale.

Something was very, very wrong.

Then finally, with a frustrated sigh, he unlocked the bedroom door and walked out.

I followed behind him slowly… like someone walking into danger with their eyes wide open.

He reached the main entrance…

Opened it…

And there she was.

The girl from the hotel. The girl from his phone. The “cousin” he swore was no one.

Her name was Adaora.

Standing in a tight maroon gown, nails long and sharp, eyes full of fire.

When she saw me behind Emmy, she hissed.

“So it’s true. She’s here.”

My heart tightened.

Emmy stepped forward.

“What do you want?” he asked coldly.

Adaora raised her brows.

“What do I want? Emmy stop that nonsense. You know why I’m here.”
She raised a phone in her hand.
“You were supposed to send the money. I need it NOW.”

Money??
My stomach dropped.

Emmy clenched his jaw.

“I’ll send it.”

“Good.” She shoved the phone at him. “Use this one.”

He grabbed it reluctantly.

Then…

He turned and looked at me.

My heart sank.

“Lili… bring my bag. Your card is inside.”

Everything in me shattered at once.

“My… my card? For what?”

He didn’t answer.

He didn’t even look guilty.

Just impatient.

“Lili please. Not now. Give me the bag.”

I handed it over like the blind idiot in love that I was.

He brought out my ATM card like it was his own.

Typed on Adaora’s phone for a few seconds.

Then handed it back.

She checked the alert.

Smiled smugly.

“Perfect.”

Then God help me she leaned close to his ear and whispered something that made his jaw tighten.

He didn’t push her away. Didn’t complain. Didn’t deny her access to his space.

She smirked at me, tossed her hair, and walked away.

When Emmy shut the door, my voice cracked.

“Emmy… how much did you send her?”

He sighed.

“A little.”

“How much??”

“…₦270,000.”

My heart almost fell out of my chest.

“What?? Emmy why would you?!”

He stepped close immediately.

Held my waist.

Gave me that soft, dangerous smile that always melted every anger in me.

“Lili calm down. I’ll pay you back. I’m handling something important. Just trust me.”

My brain shut down. My heart softened instantly. My anger dissolved like sugar in hot water.

Because Emmy was touching me.
Emmy was close.
Emmy was speaking softly.
Emmy was calling me “baby”.

Stupidity wrapped me like a blanket.

“Okay…” I whispered.

He kissed my forehead gently.

That was all it took.

I forgave him instantly.

Even though nothing made sense.
Even though everything felt wrong.
Even though that girl’s voice was still ringing in my ear.

Even though my bank account was crying.

I still forgave him.

Because I loved him. Blindly. Stupidly.

We sat down on the couch.

But then…

Emmy’s mood changed suddenly.

His smile faded. His face tightened again. His eyes became distant… cold… lost.

Like something else was weighing on him.

“Emmy… are you okay?”

He didn’t answer.

He just rubbed his forehead with stress written all over him.

Then he stood and grabbed his car key.

“I need to handle something. I’ll be back.”

My chest tightened.
“Can I come with you?”

He didn’t even hesitate.

“No.”

My heart dropped.

He walked to the door…

But before he stepped out, he turned slightly.

Not fully.

Just half.

“Lili… don’t leave the house.”

That was it.

He left.

No explanation. No kiss. No reassurance. Just a warning.

I sat there, confused, shaking, foolish, in love, broke, and trying not to cry.

Then my phone vibrated.

Debit alert: ₦270,000.00

My chest cracked open.

Tears filled my eyes.

A stupid, heartbreaking thought hit me:

What if he hugged me earlier just so I wouldn’t question him?
What if he kissed me only to soften me?
What if all this sweetness was just because he needed my card?

The room felt cold.

My hands felt numb.

My world felt small and stupid.

And that’s when I heard it

A faint sound outside.

A car door closing.

Then footsteps returning.

Fast.

My heart jumped.

Emmy??

But when the doorknob turned…

The voice I heard wasn’t his.

It was a woman’s voice.

Soft.

Sharp.

And deadly calm.

“I know you’re inside.”

My blood froze.

Adaora was back.

Again.

And this time…

She didn’t sound angry.

She sounded ready for war.

TO BE CONTINUED… 💔🔥🔥🔥

Episode 23 – Revenge on My Ex

The door opened slowly…

And Adaora stepped inside with the calmness of a queen ready to ruin someone’s life.
Her heels clicked against the tiles like a countdown to disaster.

She didn’t shout.
She didn’t hiss.
She didn’t act dramatic.

She just folded her arms and said quietly:

“Lilian… we need to talk.”

My throat tightened instantly.
But I forced myself to nod.

“I’m… I’m all ears.”

Adaora took a deep breath, looked at me from head to toe, then shook her head slowly.

“Lilian, you’re too soft-hearted. And soft-hearted girls suffer the most,” she said.

My chest clenched.

She continued:

“I don’t hate you. I don’t even blame you. But”

📞 RING! RING!!

A loud call cut her off.

She checked the screen, frowned deeply, then looked back at me.

“We’ll talk later. Just… be careful.”

Before I could ask why or about what, she walked out.

Just like that.

Leaving me alone with ten thousand fears pulsing in my chest.

The silence in the house suddenly felt too loud.

I sat down and stared into space, and everything I had been avoiding crashed into my mind:

💔 My family.
💔 My dad’s warnings.
💔 How everyone told me Emmy was trouble.
💔 How blinded I’ve been.
💔 How much I’ve given.
💔 How much I’ve lost.

Tears filled my eyes again.

Maybe love wasn’t my problem…
Maybe my problem was that I loved too much…
Gave too much…
Trusted too much…

And loved the wrong person.

I stood up slowly.

“Enough,” I whispered to myself.

It was time to leave.
For my sanity.
For my heart.
For my life.

I went into the room and started packing.

Not the cute movie-style packing.
Not the gentle one.

No.

This was the shaking-hands, wet-eyes, broken-heart type of packing.

I folded clothes randomly.
Threw some into the bag.
Left the ones I couldn’t carry.
Picked my skincare.
Left my perfume.
Grabbed my charger.
Forgot my headphones.
Took my documents.
Left my favorite slippers.

Every item I touched felt like a memory.
Every corner of the room felt like a scar.

When I zipped the last bag, I stood still and listened.

The house was quiet.

Too quiet.

Emmy was still not back.

Should I call him?
Should I leave a note?
Should I wait?

My heart whispered: stay.
My brain screamed: leave.
My stupidity said: What if Emmy needs you?

But after waiting for hours and he still didn’t return…

I made my decision.

I dragged my bags outside the gate, opened my AiExpress app with trembling hands, and booked a ride.

The car pulled up.

I loaded my things in.

The driver asked, “Madam, where to?”

I whispered the truth:

“I… I don’t know.”

We started moving anyway.

Five minutes into the journey, my chest tightened painfully.

I couldn’t breathe.

My mind kept whispering:

Can Emmy survive without me?
What if he needs me?
What if things get worse because I left?
What if he’s in trouble?
What if he changes tomorrow and I’m not there?
What if he misses me?

Stupid thoughts.
Painful thoughts.
Thoughts that only fools in love think.

My voice came out shaky.

“Driver… please turn around.”

He looked at me through the mirror.

“You’re going back?”

I nodded like the idiot I was.

“Yes. Back.”

We turned.

My heart raced faster as the car approached the house.

Why was I like this?
Why couldn’t I leave?
Why did I love someone who was destroying me?

When I got down, I paid the driver and dragged my bags back inside.

The house was still empty.
Still silent.
Still cold.

I took a deep breath, carried my bags inside the room, and started unpacking slowly…

One shirt…
One jean…
One shoe…

Each item making me realize how stupid my love was.

But I still unpacked.
Because I couldn’t leave him.
Because my heart wouldn’t let me.

As I hung the last piece of clothing…

I heard the front door unlock.

My heart stopped.

My hands went numb.

Emmy was back.

TO BE CONTINUED… 💔

Episode 24 – Revenge on My Ex

When I heard the door unlock…
My entire body froze.

I turned slowly…

And Emmy walked in.

He looked tired. Stressed. Lost.
But still him.
Still the man my heart refused to let go of.

He didn’t notice my bags.

He didn’t notice my swollen eyes.
He didn’t notice anything.

He just dropped his key and started removing his shoes like nothing happened.

He thought I was cleaning.

My chest tightened.

Before I could stop myself…

I ran to him and hugged him from behind.
So tightly… like someone scared of losing her last breath.

He stiffened in surprise.

“Lili…?”

I didn’t speak.
I just held him tighter.

Then slowly… he turned… wrapped his arms around me… and pulled me into him.

And in one sudden move
He lifted me off the floor.

My breath caught.
My heart melted.
My stupidity increased by 700%.

“Baby…” he whispered softly.

And he carried me to the bed.

His hands on my waist.
His forehead against mine.
His voice low… warm… dangerous.

“You scared me, Lili,” he murmured.
“I thought something was wrong.”

My heart almost burst.

“nothing is wrong…” I whispered like the fool I was.

He kissed me.

Soft.
Slow.
Gentle.
The kind of kiss that erases anger… and replaces it with blindness.

I felt safe.
Loved.
Wanted.
Even though my brain kept screaming that something was wrong.

When he finally pulled back, he brushed my cheek with his thumb.

Then we lay there for a moment… just breathing each other in.

🌙❤️

Later that evening, we moved to the living room and sat on the couch.

A random movie was playing on the TV…
But my eyes were only on him.

He suddenly turned to me.

“Lili…”

“Yes?” I smiled nervously.

He paused… like he was choosing his words carefully.

“What’s your plan now that you’re done with school?”

My heart dropped.

Plan?

Me?

I had none.

No job.
No internship.
No direction.
Nothing.

Just Emmy.
Just this relationship I was drowning in.

“I… I don’t know yet,” I admitted quietly.

He nodded slowly.

“You need to think, Lili. You can’t keep floating.”

Those words pierced my chest.

He continued:

“You’ve finished school. You’re smart. You’re capable.
But you act like your life is on pause until I decide something for you.”

My hands started shaking.

It felt like he was slipping away emotionally, word by word.

“I care about you, Lili,” he said.
“But caring isn’t enough if you don’t care about yourself.”

My throat tightened.

“Emmy… what are you trying to say?”

He looked away.
Not angry.
Not distant.

Just… tired.

“You need direction. Purpose. Something that isn’t me.”
He sighed.
“I don’t want you depending on me for everything.”

My chest cracked open.

It felt like rejection.
It felt like goodbye disguised as advice.
It felt like the beginning of pain.

But the worst part?

He wasn’t cheating.
He wasn’t shouting.
He wasn’t cold.

He was just being honest.

Honesty hurts differently.

I swallowed hard, blinking back tears.

“So… what do you want me to do?”

He didn’t answer immediately.

He leaned back on the couch, rubbed his temples, and whispered:

“Think about your future, Lili.
Because very soon… things might change.”

My heart stopped.

“Change? Emmy, what do you mean by”

But he stood up suddenly.

“Lili, let’s talk later. I’m tired.”

He walked toward the bedroom without looking back.

Leaving me sitting alone on the couch…

Confused.
Scared.
Heartbroken.
And wondering:

💔 What exactly was about to change?
💔 Was he leaving me?
💔 Had something happened outside?
💔 Was he trying to prepare me for something?

The house felt colder.
The silence felt heavier.
My heart felt closer to breaking.

And for the first time…

I realized:

Sometimes, heartbreak starts long before the breakup.

He didn’t cheat.
He didn’t lie.
He didn’t shout.

But something was wrong.

Terribly wrong.

And I could feel it.

TO BE CONTINUED… 💔🔥

Episode 25 – Revenge on My Ex

The moment Emmy disappeared into the bedroom, leaving me alone with all his confusing words…
My heart felt too heavy to stay in that house.

I needed fresh air.
I needed peace.
I needed someone who actually loved me without complications.

Home.

My family.

So I made a decision.

I picked my small travel bag, packed a few things quietly, and without telling Emmy…
I stepped out of the house.

As the breeze touched my skin, my chest loosened a little.

When I arrived at home, the first person I saw was my brother Chukwuma.

He opened the door with the widest smile.

“Lilian! Finally you remembered us!”

I almost cried.

He pulled me into a tight hug warm, genuine, peaceful.

A hug that didn’t demand anything.

A hug that didn’t confuse me.

A hug that didn’t drain me.

Just love.

Family love.

He didn’t ask why I came back.

He didn’t stress me with questions.

He just collected my bag like a protective big bro and said:

“Come. Let’s go out. You look like someone who needs fresh air.”

And honestly, he was right.

We went out
Just the two of us.
He bought me food.
Cracked jokes.
Made fun of my serious face.
And when I laughed…
It felt real for the first time in a long time.

At some point he looked at me and said:

“Lili… any guy stressing you, just delete him. Life no hard reach like that.”

I smiled.

But inside me?

Something shifted.

The more time I spent away from Emmy…
The more I realized:

💛 There is more to life.
💛 More to happiness.
💛 More to living.
💛 More to love.
💛 More than just Emmy.

For the first time…
My world didn’t revolve around him.

For the first time…
I felt like myself again.

A version of me I almost forgot existed.

The next morning, I woke up feeling strangely calm.

My dad called me into the living room.

He looked at me with soft eyes.

“My daughter… you look tired. Is everything okay?”

I wanted to lie.
But my throat failed me.

Tears quietly rolled down my cheeks.

He didn’t shout.
He didn’t scold.
He just held my hand.

“My princess… you deserve a love that gives you peace. Not confusion.”

My heart broke and healed at the same time.

Later that day, I went for a walk outside the estate.
I needed space to think.

That was when it happened.

A car slowed beside me.
The window rolled down.

And a male voice said:

“Excuse me… are you Lilian?”

I turned.

And saw a guy.
Tall.
Clean.
Soft smile.
Warm eyes.

Someone I’d never seen before.

But someone who looked like trouble…
and peace…
and possibility.

I blinked, confused.

“Yes… I’m Lilian. Why?”

He smiled again gentle, intentional.

“I’ve seen you around before.
I wanted to say hi… but you always looked deep in thought.
I’m Daniel.”

Daniel.
The name itself sounded calm.

My heart did a strange flip.

Not because I liked him.
Not yet.

But because…

For the first time in a very long time…

My heart responded to a voice that wasn’t Emmy’s.

I didn’t expect that.

I didn’t plan for that.

“Nice to meet you, Daniel,” I said softly.

He nodded.

“Maybe we can talk properly next time?”

My heartbeat jumped.

Before I could reply
A familiar tone echoed in my bag.

My phone.

Emmy’s name flashed on the screen.

Calling.

My entire world paused.

Daniel waited for my answer.
My phone vibrated again.
My heart hung between two worlds.

Old love.
New possibility.

Stupidity.
Or sanity.

My fingers shook slightly as I stared at the screen…

And that was where everything truly began to change.

TO BE CONTINUED… 💔🔥

Episode 26 – Revenge on My Ex

Emmy’s name was still flashing on my phone.

Ringing.
Vibrating.
Begging for attention.

But for the first time ever…
I didn’t pick.

I just stared at the screen until it stopped.
My chest didn’t explode.
My heart didn’t collapse.

It just… stayed still.

Daniel noticed the tension on my face and smiled calmly.

“No pressure,” he said softly.
“I just… thought maybe we could go out for a bit? Get your mind off things.”

Something inside me hesitated.
Something inside me wanted to run home.
Another part of me wanted to escape everything.

“Sure,” I said quietly.

And just like that…
My stupidity signed another contract.

Daniel took me to a chilled lounge first.
The lights were soft.
Music calm.
Smell of grilled chicken everywhere.

He bought me food.
Dessert.
Drinks.
Even small chops I didn’t ask for.

He kept asking:

“Are you comfortable?”
“You want more?”
“You like this place?”
“You want to go somewhere else?”

He was acting like a big boy.
A very big boy.

And stupid me?
I was slowly believing it.

Then he carried me to another spot.

Ice cream place.
Photo booth.
Rooftop view.

We laughed.
We took pictures.
We talked about random things.

Even the breeze felt soft that evening.

For a moment…
It felt like something beautiful was about to start.

Something peaceful.
Something new.
Something refreshing.

I began to wonder:

“Is this what life feels like without drama?”
“Am I finally catching a break?”

I didn’t know I was about to be embarrassed publicly.

We were at a restaurant now the last stop.
Daniel ordered confidently:

“Bring your biggest plate. Two. With drinks.”
“And pepper soup.”
“And suya.”

He was shining.
Talking with chest.
Forming big boy.

I wasn’t complaining.
I was enjoying the moment.

Until…

He suddenly froze.

Then the ducked under the table.

Like a rat running from broom.

I blinked.

“Daniel… what is it?”

He whispered sharply:

“Don’t move! Don’t look! Somebody just entered!”

Of course I looked.

And my eyes widened.

Walking through the entrance…

Was Emmanuel.

Not Emmy.

But Emmanuel
My course mate.
The sweet guy who let me stay in his house that day…
and respected me.

“Emmanuel??” I called out before I could stop myself.

He turned.
Saw me.
Smiled.
Waved.

Then walked toward me.

“Lilian! Long time! You look good.”

I smiled awkwardly.
“Thank you… you too.”

He glanced at the second plate on the table.

“Oh… you’re here with someone?”

Before I could answer
Daniel slowly crawled out from under the table.

Emmanuel stared at him.
Then burst out laughing.

“Daniel! My guy! Na here you dey?”

Daniel looked like someone caught stealing meat from pot.

Emmanuel shook his head.

“So THIS is where you’ve been since morning? With my car?”

My entire body froze.

Car…
His car??
Not Daniel’s??

Emmanuel continued:

“I’ve been calling your number since! It hasn’t been connecting!
You have mind dey flex girl with my keys?”

I choked on my own saliva.

I looked at Daniel.

Then at Emmanuel.

Then at the entrance…
where Emmanuel’s BLACK BENZ was parked.

Daniel swallowed hard.

“Bro… bro calm down… I just”

Emmanuel raised his brows.

“No wonder you were acting like Dangote’s first son.
Daniel… return my keys NOW.”

The restaurant went silent.

My stupidity started clapping for me.

The “big boy” I was beginning to like…
The guy I was almost catching feelings for…
The one acting like he owned the whole city…

Was flexing with another man’s car.

And not just any man.

Emmanuel.
My classmate.

I wanted the ground to open.

Or swallow me.
Or carry me to heaven.

Anything.

Daniel quietly removed the keys from his pocket and handed them over.

And Emmanuel turned to me with a small smile:

“Lilian… I hope he didn’t tell you he owns this car?”

I swallowed the heartbreak, the embarrassment, and the tears that threatened to fall.

“No… he didn’t,” I lied.

Because stupidity has pride.

And before I could even process my shame…

Emmanuel looked at Daniel and asked:

“So… is THIS what you’ve been doing since??”

And that was where everything shattered.

TO BE CONTINUED… 💔🔥😂

Episode 27 – Revenge on My Ex

The whole restaurant was silent.

Every eye was on us.

Daniel’s embarrassment. Emmanuel’s disappointment. My own stupidity… sitting proudly beside me.

Emmanuel pocketed his keys, shook his head and sighed.

“So THIS is what you’ve been doing since?”

Daniel looked like a primary school boy whose report card was seized.

“Bro… I just wanted to impress her na. Na small cruise.”

Small cruise.

And I was the cruise.

I felt something break quietly inside me.

Emmanuel turned to me again.

“Lilian, I hope he hasn’t collected money from you?”

I swallowed.

Hard.

“No,” I said. A lie. Because stupidity is allergic to shame.

But the truth?

I had paid for extra food twice. Because Daniel’s transfer “was hanging”.

I wanted to cry.

Emmanuel sighed again and rubbed his forehead.

“Daniel… I don’t know why you like using my things to form big boy.
Even your own SIM card is always ‘not connecting’.”

People around were already laughing small.

Daniel was sweating like generator under sun.

“Bro abeg, na play”

“Play? With my fuel?” Emmanuel snapped.

I felt the embarrassment crawl up my spine.

I stood up slowly.

“Emmanuel… it’s fine. I should get going.”

But the universe said No.

Because the moment I stepped away from the table…

My phone rang.

Loud.

Sharp.

Annoying.

Emmy calling again.

Emmanuel saw the name and raised a brow.

“Oh… so you and Emmy are still talking?”

My soul left my body.

“No it’s not like that I just”

Daniel finally opened his mouth and worsened everything.

He chuckled and said:

“Ah, Emmanuel leave her.
Na today she came back to her papa house na.
She said she wan breathe small.”

My head snapped toward him.

He WHAT???

Emmanuel’s eyes widened.

“So… you left Emmy’s house because of a fight or what, and followed Daniel out?
THIS Daniel?”

My legs disappeared.

I wanted to vanish.

“I didn’t say that’s not what Daniel! Why would you”

Daniel shrugged like stupidity was his calling.

“Ah but you told me na. You said you need someone who will treat you better.”

Emmanuel’s jaw dropped.

My own heartbeat stopped.

Everything froze.

Emmanuel looked at me carefully.

Pain in his eyes. Shock. Judgment. Confusion.

“So… is that why you didn’t pick Emmy’s calls?” he asked quietly.

My throat tightened.

“I… I just needed space,” I whispered.

The truth? I didn’t even know what I needed anymore.

I was just tired.

Emmanuel sighed deeply, disappointed.

“Lilian… you deserve better. But this” he pointed at Daniel “this one is a wrong upgrade.”

Daniel hissed softly.

“Abeg abeg, no dey talk like say you’re better than me.”

Emmanuel turned sharply.

“At least I don’t borrow car to form helper.”

Daniel kept quiet.

My shame turned into dust.
Fine dust.
Floating around me.

I took my bag.

“Please… let me just go home.”

But again…

The universe said NO.

Because as I turned to walk out of the restaurant…

I saw a familiar figure standing at the entrance.

Hands in pocket.

Eyes staring directly at me.

Face unreadable.

My heart jumped out of my chest.

EMMY.

Standing there.

Watching everything.

Watching Daniel. Watching Emmanuel. Watching me.

My legs trembled.

Oh God.

Not now. Not like this.

Emmy walked slowly toward us.

Each step louder than the music playing.

He reached our table.

Looked at me.

Looked at Emmanuel.

Looked at Daniel.

Then back at me.

His voice was calm.

Too calm.

“Lilian.”

My heart fell to my feet.

“Is this… what you left home to do?”

Silence.

My lips shook.

“I Emmy, please, let me explain ”

He didn’t raise his voice.
He didn’t frown.
He didn’t even blink.

That was what scared me the most.

He just looked at me with that cold, quiet disappointment that burns more than shouting.

“Explain?” he said softly.
“Okay. I’m listening.”

My mouth opened.

Nothing came out.

Everyone in the restaurant watched like it was a Netflix series.

Daniel adjusted his shirt.

Emmanuel stayed silent.

Emmy turned to Daniel.

“So… you decided to take her out?”
His voice was still calm.
Too calm.

Daniel stammered.

“Bro abeg… no vex… She just needed fresh air”

Emmy smirked.

That smirk that meant danger.

“And you decided to borrow person car to impress her?”

Daniel froze.

Emmanuel looked away, trying not to laugh.

Emmy shook his head slowly.

Then he turned back to me.

And said the sentence that destroyed everything:

“Lilian… if you wanted someone better than me…

at least pick someone who actually HAS something.”

My breath vanished.

Those words entered my chest like fire.

Daniel looked away in shame.

Emmanuel exhaled loudly.

And Emmy?

Emmy didn’t wait for my reaction.

He just touched my shoulder gently and whispered:

“When you’re done… come home.”

Then he walked out.

Just like that.

Leaving me there…

Broken. Embarrassed. Confused. And stupid all over again.

Tears burned my eyes.

I didn’t even know who to face.

Daniel?

Emmanuel?

Myself?

Everything felt like a mistake I created with my own hands.

And that was when I realized…

Peace is expensive.

And stupidity?

Stupidity is free.

Episode 28 – Revenge on My Ex

Leaving that restaurant felt like walking out of a battlefield.

My chest was heavy…
My brain was scattered…
But weirdly?

My legs were light.

Maybe from shock.
Maybe from shame.
Or maybe…

Just maybe…

I was finally getting tired of chaos.

I stood outside for a few seconds, breathing like somebody escaping NEPA bill.

Then my phone vibrated.

I thought it was Emmy again.

But no.

It was my brother.

Chukwuma ❤️

“Lili, where are you?
Come home. We’re cooking.”

Those words alone felt like healing oil.

I called a ride immediately.

And for the first time that whole day…

I smiled.

Just small.

But it counted.

The moment I stepped into the compound, my brother rushed out like I was a returning refugee.

“Why is your face like puff-puff that fell inside water?”

I burst into laughter.

The first real one since everything.

He dragged me inside.

Before I knew it He tied apron on my waist.

“Today, we are cooking jollof. No man matter allowed.”

I gasped dramatically.

“Ah-ahn! Chef Chuks!”

He posed with useless confidence.

“International chef. Call me Chuks Ramsay.”

I laughed until my stomach hurt.

We cooked. We fought over salt. We argued about chicken. We danced to old P-Square songs.

I forgot Emmy. I forgot Daniel. I forgot everything.

Just family.
Just peace.

Even my dad joined the dance for one minute before forming seriousness again.

Dad passed by and said:

“Lilian, if this your smile finishes, I will beat you.”

We all laughed.

For once… life felt soft.

Later in the evening, Chukwuma dragged me outside for fresh air.

We sat on the car bonnet, eating suya and talking.

Out of nowhere, he said:

“Lili… I like this version of you.”
“The peaceful one.”
“The happy one.”

I looked down.

Something inside me relaxed.

I didn’t know how much I missed myself.

Then His phone beeped.

A message popped up.

A picture.

He tried to hide it but I saw it.

A girl.

Fine. Slim waist. Beautiful smile.

I raised my eyebrow.

“Aha! Who is she?”

My brother choked on suya.

“Which she? Ah! No oo! That’s my class rep. She sent assignment.”

Assignment at 8pm with filter picture?

Okay oh.

I gave him side-eye.

“Chuks… I’m older. I know things.”

He laughed and flicked my forehead.

“Face front joor.”

It felt good.
It felt normal.
Life was simple again.

We were still talking when we heard a car horn outside.

Chukwuma frowned.

“Who be that one by this time?”

He stepped forward.

The gate opened.

And to my greatest shock…

It was Emmanuel.

Holding a grocery bag.

With bottled juice. And chocolate. And something wrapped.

I blinked aggressively.

“Emmanuel? You… you came here?”

He smiled nervously.

“I just wanted to be sure you’re okay. Today was… a lot.”

I didn’t know what to say.

Chukwuma eyed him like a protective bulldog.

“Good evening,” Emmanuel greeted him respectfully.

My brother nodded slowly.

“Evening. You’re the Emmanuel she mentioned before?”

I almost died.

WHEN DID I MENTION HIM??

Emmanuel smiled shyly.

“Well… I brought this for her. No big deal.”

He handed me the bag.

I opened it.

Inside was hot shawarma.

My weakness.

My toxic love language.

I tried to hide my smile but failed.

Emmanuel rubbed the back of his neck.

“I know today was embarrassing. I just didn’t want you to end it feeling bad.”

I blinked.

My chest felt warm.

Not love.
Not crush.
Just…

Appreciation.

Peace.

He continued:

“If you ever need a distraction… or a friend… I’m around.”

A friend.

I didn’t know why that word hit me.

I nodded.

“Thank you, Emmanuel.”

He smiled.

Then turned to leave.

But before getting into his car, he paused and looked at me again.

“Lilian… you deserve someone who won’t make you cry every week.”

My breath caught.

He entered the car and drove off.

I stood there quietly.

Confused. Happy. Touched. Scatter-brained.

My brother tapped me.

“So this is the Emmanuel abi?
Hmm. I like him small… but I will still monitor.”

I burst into laughter again.

Everything felt light.

Everything felt new.

Everything felt confusing.

But in a sweet way.

As I walked inside, still holding my shawarma and blushing like a fool…

My phone vibrated.

A message.

From Emmy.

Short.

Cold.

Dangerous.

“We need to talk. Tonight.”

My smile vanished.

Just like that.

Back to confusion.

Back to tension.

Back to the storm I thought I escaped.

I stood still for a long time…

Holding shawarma in one hand…

Holding my phone in the other…

Feeling peace on one side…

And chaos dragging me on the other.

And deep down, I knew:

Something was coming.

Something big.

Something I wasn’t ready for.

TO BE CONTINUED… ❤️🔥😳

Episode 29 – Revenge on My Ex

For almost one full minute…

I didn’t move.

Not blink. Not breathe normally. Not think straight.

Emmy’s message just sat there on my screen like a final exam question.

“We need to talk. Tonight.”

Talk? Tonight? Me? Him?

Why?

To shout? To accuse me? To drag me back emotionally? Or to confuse me again with his stupid sweet face?

My spirit was already packing load to leave my body.

I walked into the living room quietly.

Chukwuma took one look at my face and hissed.

“Who texted you?”

I hid my phone behind me.

“Nobody.”

He folded his arms.

“Lilian. You’re my sister. Your face is shouting ‘problem’. Who texted you?”

I sighed.

“Emmy.”

My brother threw his suya stick on the floor dramatically.

“HA! This boy wants to stress my destiny. What does he want again??”

“I don’t know…”

Before I finished my sentence, Mom walked in.

“Which Emmy? The one making my daughter cry? Let me talk to him”

“NO!” I screamed.

Everyone froze.

I blinked.

“I mean… no, it’s fine. I’ll handle it.”

Mom squinted her eyes at me.

“You better not be going to see him tonight. If you go, I will lock you outside. And I mean it.”

I gulped.

Chukwuma clapped his hands.

“Yes! Lock her! She never listens! She’s emotionally short-sighted!”

I rolled my eyes.

“I’m not going anywhere. Calm down.”

But deep down?

I wasn’t sure.

My phone vibrated again.

This time, it wasn’t Emmy.

It was…

Emmanuel.
Just a short message:

“Hope you’re okay? Get some rest.”

My heart did a small stupid backflip.

Peace vs Problem.

Gentle vs Madness.

Chocolate vs Eba-with-high-blood-pressure.

I texted Emmanuel back.

“Thank you. I’m fine. Really.”

He replied almost immediately.

“Good. Sleep early. Tomorrow will be better.”

I smiled like mumu.

Chukwuma saw it and groaned.

“Which one is making you smile like roasted plantain now??”

“Nobody,” I said quickly.

He pointed at me.
“You’re falling for somebody again. I can smell your stupidity rising.”

I threw pillow at him.

We laughed. We joked. We watched TV until late.

For once, my heart didn’t feel heavy.

But… peace never lasts in my life.

Around 11pm, I finally went to my room.

I locked the door. Sat on my bed. Opened the shawarma Emmanuel gave me.

It still smelled fresh.

“God, who sent this boy to be this sweet?” I whispered.

I took one bite. My soul left my body temporarily.

I was just about to take another bite when

KNOCK.
KNOCK.
KNOCK.

Slow. Soft. But serious.

My heart picked race.

I peeked through the curtain.

My blood froze.

Standing outside the gate…
Quiet…
Hands in pockets…

EMMY.

Oh God.

My soul evaporated.

What was he doing here??

At NIGHT???

I rushed to my brother’s room.

“Chukwuma wake up!! Wake up!!”

He sat up immediately.

“Thief?? NEPA?? Snake?? What??”

“Emmy is at the gate!”

He blinked three times.

“WHICH Emmy??”

“MY Emmy!”

He hissed.
“Stop calling him ‘my’ Emmy. He’s your stress.”

Then he jumped up and grabbed his slippers.

“Let’s go.”

We tiptoed to the window.

Emmy was still outside.

Still calm. Still silent. Still terrifyingly composed.

My brother muttered:

“This boy has turned to night vigil.”

“What do we do?” I whispered.

“Simple,” he said, adjusting his shirt like bouncer.
“We ignore him.”

My phone vibrated again.

A message from Emmy.

“I’m outside. Come out, please.”

My stomach did backflip, somersault and landed badly.

I typed back:

“I can’t. My parents are around.”

He replied:

“I’m not here to fight. Just talk.”

Chukwuma read the message over my shoulder.

He hissed loud.

“Talk ko, Talk na. If you go outside, I will drag you back like bag of rice.”

I giggled nervously.

Something inside me still wanted to see Emmy.

Something inside me still missed him.

Stupid heart.

But before I could reply him…

Emmy sent one last message.

Short.

Scary.

Emotional.

“Lilian… please. I just want to see your face.”

My chest tightened painfully.

I didn’t know what was happening.

I didn’t know what he wanted.

I didn’t know why he came.

But one thing was clear:

My night was no longer peaceful.

My brother grabbed my hand.

“Don’t move.”

But my legs?

Those idiots…

Were already shaking.

And deep inside me…

A small, stupid part still whispered:

“What if he came to say something important?”

I swallowed hard.

Then my phone vibrated again.

This time it wasn’t Emmy.

It was Emmanuel.

“I forgot to tell you… tomorrow I’ll be around your area.
If you’re free, I’d like to take you somewhere.”

Ah.

Perfect timing.

Two men.

Two energies.

Two different worlds.

And me?

Stuck.

Confused.

Soft. Stupid. Shaking.

Everything was happening too fast.

And that was when I realized…

The night had just started.

TO BE CONTINUED… 😳🔥💔💋
