ENT 211 Assignment
In 20 years, what product or service do you intend to offer to the world?
In 20 years, I plan to develop pest-resistant crops using biotechnology. These crops will be designed to naturally fight off pests without needing harmful chemical pesticides. Farmers will be able to grow healthier crops, reduce their losses, and spend less money on pesticides. This will also help reduce pollution caused by chemicals used in farming, making food safer for people and better for the environment. My goal is to create crops that will help farmers produce more food, especially in areas where pests destroy farms and reduce harvests.
What are five factors that will facilitate (help) this product or service?
1. Advancement in Biotechnology – Science is improving every day, and new methods like genetic modification and CRISPR gene editing will make it easier to create crops that can resist pests.
2. Government Policies and Funding – If the government supports agricultural research by providing funding and passing laws that encourage the use of biotech crops, it will help make these pest-resistant plants available to farmers.
3. Farmer Awareness and Acceptance – Many farmers are used to using pesticides, so they need to be educated about the benefits of pest-resistant crops. If they understand how these crops can save them money and increase their harvest, they will be more willing to adopt them.
4. Climate Change and Food Security Needs – As the climate changes and pests become more of a problem, there will be a higher demand for crops that can survive without being damaged by insects. This will push more farmers to embrace pest-resistant crops.
5. Partnerships with Agricultural Companies – Working with seed companies and agricultural businesses will help produce and distribute pest-resistant crops on a large scale, making them available to more farmers.
What are five factors that can circumvent (affect) the product and service?
1. Public Misconceptions about GMOs – Some people believe that genetically modified foods are harmful, even when there is no scientific proof. This fear and misinformation can make it hard for farmers to accept pest-resistant crops.
2. High Research and Development Costs – Developing new crop varieties takes a lot of time and money. Without proper funding, it may be difficult to complete the research and make the crops available to farmers.
3. Strict Government Regulations – Some countries have very strict rules about genetically modified crops. If the government does not approve these crops for farming, they may not be available for use.
4. Pests Adapting Over Time – Just like bacteria can become resistant to antibiotics, some pests may develop resistance to pest-resistant crops after many years, making them less effective.
5. Competition from Chemical Pesticide Companies – Companies that make and sell pesticides may try to block the spread of pest-resistant crops because it will reduce the demand for their products. They could influence policies or spread negative information about biotech crops.
