Every session at Ebonyi State University (EBSU), the school releases a list of students who did not meet the required academic standard.

This usually affects students in CAS and PRESCO faculties, and many students always get confused when they hear words like “Withdrawn” or “Probation.”

Let us explain it clearly.

What Does “Withdrawn” Mean?

If a student is withdrawn, it means:

• The student did not meet the required minimum GPA.
• The academic performance is below the university’s approved standard.
• The student may no longer continue in that department or programme.

In simple terms, the school has decided that the student cannot continue in that course because of low academic performance.

This is serious.

What Does “Probation” Mean?

Probation is different from withdrawal.

If a student is placed on probation, it means:

• The student must improve in the next session.
• The student may need to repeat some courses.

So probation is like a warning.

The school is saying:
