
Alex Ekwueme Federal University, Ndufu-Alike (AE-FUNAI), Ebonyi State, has appointed Professor Daniel C. Nwachukwu as its 4th Vice-Chancellor.
The appointment was announced on Saturday, 20th December 2025, following what the university described as a thorough, transparent, and competitive selection process involving over 40 qualified professors.
Professor Nwachukwu is a Professor of Cardiovascular Physiology from the Department of Physiology, Faculty of Basic Medical Sciences, University of Nigeria, Enugu Campus (UNEC). He previously served as the Deputy Vice-Chancellor of UNEC, a position he assumed in 2023.
Academic Background
Professor Nwachukwu earned his:
- First Degree in Human Physiology from the University of Lagos in 1995
- Master’s Degree from the University of Benin in 1997
- PhD from the University of Benin in 2012
Academic Career
He joined the services of the University of Nigeria, Nsukka (UNN) as a lecturer in July 1999. With over 26 years of experience in academia, he rose steadily through the ranks and became a Professor in 2016.

Professor Daniel Nwachukwu hails from Okposi in Ohaozara Local Government Area of Ebonyi State. He is married and blessed with children.
