Summary of What the SUG President Said About Withdrawn and Probation Students in EBSU

The President of the Students Union Government, EBSU, Chika Abraham Nwuhuo, has officially addressed the recent withdrawal of some students from the Faculty of Health Sciences and Technology, especially those in the Department of Medical Laboratory Science.

According to the communiqué signed by the SUG President, the Union is aware that some students were withdrawn due to alleged unsatisfactory academic performance. While the Union recognizes the authority of the University management to enforce academic standards and maintain discipline, it raised serious concerns about the process that led to the withdrawal.

The SUG revealed that credible reports show that some affected students have not yet had proper access to their results, nor have they fully verified or confirmed the results used in making the withdrawal decisions. Based on this, the Union emphasized that decisions of such magnitude must strictly follow due process, transparency, and proper result verification before any withdrawal list is finalized or publicly released.

The President made it clear that every academic decision must be fair, properly reviewed, and free from any form of arbitrariness. He assured students that the Union is already engaging the appropriate authorities through the right institutional channels to ensure justice and clarity.

He also urged affected students to remain calm, law-abiding, and patient while discussions are ongoing. The SUG reaffirmed its commitment to protecting the academic rights, dignity, and welfare of all students. In his words, the era of arbitrary actions is over, and every student deserves fairness and transparency in matters concerning their academic progress.
